MJHS Loses to Page High School In Round 2 of the Playoffs

On Friday, November 11, 2022, the MJHS Bears went up against the Page High School Patriots.



The Bears started their drive on the 40-yard line but were quickly shut down by the Patriots' defense. Number 15, Mark Shenouda's punt landed on the Page 28-yard line.

The Bears forced a quick three and out, getting the ball back on Page's 46.


After 4 small plays, number 3, Tyler Travers passed the ball to number 24, Jon'Mikael Crudup, who ran in the 41-yard touchdown. Number 98, Daniel Eccheverria's kick was good, and the Bears were on top, 7-0, with 7:12 left in the first quarter.


The Patriots started their drive on their 22-yard line and made 8 rush plays before being at 4th down, where they were unable to complete the pass for first down. The Bears took over on the 20.


The Bears made their way downfield before being stopped at the 14-yard line, where Eccheverria kicked a field goal to put the Bears at 10-0 with 9:41 left in the 2nd quarter.


The Patriots started their drive on their 20-yard line and carved a path through the Bears' defense to score a touchdown, making the score 10-7 with 4:45 left in the half.


The Patriots kept the Bears from scoring and reclaimed possession after the punt on the MJ 45.


After a 38-yard pass play, the Patriots threw the ball in for the touchdown, and with the extra point attempt, took the lead, 14-10, with 41 seconds left in the half.


The Patriots almost sacked Travers, who tried to pass the ball to keep from losing yardage, but it was batted down by the defense, who ran it in for the touchdown, making the extra point, and furthering their lead to 21-10 with 28 seconds left in the half.


The Bears couldn't score in the remainder of the half, and went off the field, behind by 11.


The Bears' defense came back into the game strong, forcing a quick three and out, which was followed by number 7, Dearrius Morton, coming around to clock the punt, which was run in by number 30, Deon Waller. Eccheverria's kick was good, and the Bears raised the score to 21-17, with 10:20 left in the 3rd quarter.


Again, the Patriots started on the 20, and the Bears forced another punt. Morton got around again, and ran the ball in for another touchdown, but spiked the ball, causing a penalty on the kickoff. Eccheverria's kick was good, and the Bears were on top, 24-21, with 9:25 left in the quarter.


The Patriots started on the MJ 33-yard line after the return. They made short work of the defense and scored a 16-yard pass touchdown. With the kick, the Patriots retook the lead at 28-24, with 6:47 left in the quarter.


The Bears' offense was stopped on the 49-yard line, and the Patriots took over on the 20-yard line after the punt.


The Patriots made their way downfield, scoring a 29-yard rushing touchdown, putting the score to 35-24 with 11:13 left in the game.


The Bears made their way through the Patriots' defense and scored with Tyler running the last 4 yards for the touchdown.

Travers Scores a Touchown

The Bears made the 2-point conversion with a screen to number 8, Walter Bowers IV, who threw it to Daniyan in the endzone, bringing the score to 35-32 with 8:20 left in the game.

The Patriots quickly scored their touchdown, bringing the score to 42-32 with 5:43 left in the game.


The Bears took just under 2 minutes to score, with a screen to number 13, Baylor Osborne, who threw the ball to Daniyan for a 30-yard touchdown, which brought the score up to 42-39 Page, with 2:55 left in the game.


Page started their drive on their 49-yard line, and took their time to run out the clock to take the win. The final score was 42-39 Page.


Griffin Throneberry, Osize Daniyan, Keion Irby, Easton Spurlock, and Brady Jones will all return with the start of the basketball season, where they play their first game at home on Thursday, November 17th, where they again will play against Page.
