MJHS Yearbook was awarded and recognized by the National Scholastic Press Association Critique (NSPA) as a "First Class" yearbook for the 2024 yearbook "Tradition Runs Deep: 170 Years".
This is the first time MJ Yearbook has entered into this national competition.
"This is a big book, full to the edges with photos, quotes, copy, and coverage," NSPA said.
"I am extremely proud of the yearbook staff as they have consistently worked hard to create a book that represents MJHS well in content and presentation - and also receiving national recognition," Mr. Judkins, MJ yearbook sponsor, said.
Achieving a "First Class" rank from the NSPA signifies a high level of excellence and professionalism in student journalism.
This national recognition highlights a yearbook's outstanding achievement in storytelling, design, and journalistic standards. It demonstrates the staff’s dedication to creating a publication that resonates with its audience while meeting rigorous criteria, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment on both a school and national level.
The NSPA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in student journalism.
An NSPA critique is a valuable tool for high school yearbook staff, offering professional feedback on design, writing, photography, and overall production. It highlights strengths and areas for improvement, serving as a learning opportunity to enhance future editions. This critique not only validates hard work but also provides guidance to elevate the book’s quality, ensuring it stands out nationally as a cherished, professional-grade publication.
