Mt. Juliet girls basketball fell to 5-3 on the season after a hard-fought 48-50 loss to Liberty Creek in a non-district matchup on Friday night.
The Lady Bears (5-3) traded baskets with the Wolves (5-1) throughout the night, neither team led by more than 3 possessions all night. The Lady Bears were led by Junior McClaine Ringenberg, who finished the game with 21 points, and recording multiple steals and blocks on the night. Sophomore Aaliyah Holman also added 13 points off the bench for the Bears.
Liberty Creek dominated inside, with 53% of their points coming from the paint. They were led by Kaylor West with 19 points on 50% shooting, as well as 12 points from Maisen Lewis.
The Wolves played tough defense, including a forced turnover on a Mt. Juliet inbound with 2.6 seconds left, stopping a shot that would have potentially sent the game to overtime.
The Lady Bears picked up their first loss of the month, after defeating John Overton and moving to 5-2 earlier in the week, which brought them up to #20 in the coacht.com TSSAA DI 4A power ratings.
Liberty Creek entered the game 4-1, and ranked #19 in TSSAA DI 3A, according to coacht.com, and was fresh off blowout win versus Kirkwood on Tuesday.
Mt. Juliet's next matchup is against Hendersonville on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
