The Golden Leaf yearbook received a Certificate of Merit from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for its endsheet design in the 2024 edition, Tradition Runs Deep: 170 Years. This recognition was part of the 41st annual Gold Circle Awards, which honor excellence in student journalism nationwide.

The award-winning endsheet featured a vintage “large letter” postcard-style design that incorporated photos of Mt. Juliet High School students from both past and present. The design introduced the book’s historical theme and reflected the staff’s commitment to thoughtful and creative visual storytelling.

“This recognition from one of the most respected journalism programs in the country is a testament to the intentional design work our staff puts into every page,” said Mr. Judkins, yearbook adviser.

The CSPA, based at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, sponsors the Gold Circle Awards to recognize top student work in news, magazine, digital media and yearbook. The 2024 competition drew nearly 7,000 entries from high school and college publications across the country and abroad.

This honor adds to a growing list of national accolades for the 2024 Golden Leaf, which also received recognition from the Tennessee High School Press Association, National Scholastic Press Association and American Scholastic Press Association.
