“6-7” vs. “41”: The Numbers That Took Over the Internet

Anyone who has been on any social media lately has probably heard someone yelling “6-7!” or “41!” for absolutely no reason.

At first, it sounds like nonsense, and honestly, that's the whole point of it. These random number memes have entirely taken over Generation Alpha and teen internet culture.

Both memes are pretty much just people shouting numbers that don’t have any real meaning. They originated from parts of popular rap songs, which people now use as inside jokes or references. “6-7” comes from a song called “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla and “41” comes from “41 Song” by Blizzi Boi.

Neither song has any hidden meaning behind them; they just repeat the numbers, but for some reason, that randomness has got everyone hooked.

“I like the meme '6-7' more because it’s original which makes it more sigma,” said Willow Yockman (‘28).

These memes have spread like wildfire on TikTok and Instagram. People began to make edits, remixes, and even dances to the songs. Soon after, kids were yelling “6-7!” in the hallways and during sports games. Teachers were confused, parents were asking questions, and all the kids just laughed.

“41” came soon after, as some would say, like a “sequel meme”.

“41 just hasn’t fully made it onto the scene yet, so 6-7 is still repping strong,” said Mr. Christoffersen.

The main difference between the two memes would be timing. “6-7” hit first in late 2024 and became huge, but by mid-2025, people were already moving onto “41”. It's kind of like how trends on TikTok last for a short amount of time before something new takes the spotlight.

“'41' wants to be '6-7' so bad,” said Breanna Michael (‘27).

“6-7” also had more specific things connected to it-like a basketball player, LaMelo Ball who's “6-7” and this viral kid called the “6-7 Kid.” “41” doesn't have any specific meanings to it yet. It’s newer, and people are still trying to figure out what kind of jokes or videos would fit with it.

Even though the numbers themselves are meaningless, they represent something interesting about today's internet culture.

In the end, “6-7” and “41” are more than just viral jokes; they’re snapshots of how quickly online culture evolves. They show how creativity and connection can come from the most unexpected places. Whether it’s shouting a random number or joining in on the latest meme, people use these trends to feel a part of something bigger. When “41” eventually fades, another meme will rise up to take its place, continuing the cycle of internet humor that keeps online culture alive.
