The People’s Choice Awards were hosted by E! Entertainment on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Santa Monica, Calif. This awards show celebrates all types of entertainment from TV shows to social media influencers. It represents everything in pop culture that America loved this year.

The People’s Choice Awards are different from most other award shows. The reason why is right in the name: regular people themselves get to vote on the winners.

Avengers: Endgame, the highest grossing movie of all time, took home the Movie of 2019 award, as well as Favorite Action Movie and two awards and four nominations for acting.

Pink gave an inspiring acceptance speech after being honored with the People’s Champion Award for her philanthropic efforts and work with several charities. The musician encouraged everyone to get involved and try to make a difference by citing several famous activists to show that one person really can make a difference.

“There is so much to be done. I don’t care about your politics, I care about your kids. I care about decency and humanity and kindness. Kindness today is an act of rebellion,” she spoke with clear and concise, yet uplifting, words.

The Icon Award, which was given for the first time last year to Melissa McCarthy, went to Jennifer Aniston. She credited her success and title as an icon to Friends and thanked everyone involved with the show by saying, “Friends was the gift of a lifetime and I wouldn't be standing up here without that amazing show.”

Popular Netflix original series Stranger Things received both the Show of 2019 and Drama Show of 2019, and the acting also received some nominations and awards. The show’s star, Millie Bobby Brown, was honored with Female TV Star, and Finn Wolfhard was nominated for Male TV Star.

The People’s Choice Awards accurately show what America loves to watch and listen to each year. It is a special award show that uses fan involvement to celebrate talented individuals from all over the entertainment industry.
