Harley Quinn tells the story of what happens after she gets dumped by the Joker in this R-rated anti-hero adventure. The movie follows Harley as she discovers that her actions against others have consequences that she now has to deal with. The Joker gave her protection. Without him, it’s every man for himself. This exciting adventure has many twists and turns, along with a lot of epic Harley Quinn fight scenes.
The official synopsis: "It's open season on Harley Quinn when her explosive breakup with the Joker puts a big fat target on her back. Unprotected and on the run, Quinn faces the wrath of narcissistic crime boss Black Mask, his right-hand man, Victor Zsasz, and every other thug in the city. But things soon even out for Harley when she becomes unexpected allies with three deadly women -- Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya.”
Critics have been comparing the movie to Marvel’s Deadpool in its comedic but intense glory.
The movie made $81.25 million on opening weekend, $33.25 million in the US and $48 million in international markets.
It’s important to note that this is not a sequel for Suicide Squad, although it does reference the movie. Birds of Prey has a lot of “comic book” moments, including bringing in one of the two hyenas that Harley keeps as pets. The hyena, Bruce, was actually a dog that movie producers edited with CGI to make it look like the aggressive creature.
I personally enjoyed the movie, and highly suggest it to anyone who enjoys a twist on the typical superhero movie. If you are under age, make sure that you get permission first.
