The Chicago Cubs have been interviewing a lot of different people and Joe Espada is one of them. Some people actually turned down the request for an interview. Espada’s interview left a good impression on the staff and team, so there is a chance Espada might be the next manager of the Cubs.
Espada managed Gigantes de Carolina in the Puerto Rican league in the winter. He coached teamed Puerto Rico in the world classic in 2013 and 2017. He has been a bench coach for the Astros for the last two seasons and was also a special assistant to General Manager, Brian Cashman, for the Yankees before that.
With how well the interview went and all his prior experience, Espada has a very good chance at becoming the cubs next manager. This will be a great opportunity for him and impactful to his baseball career considering the Cubs record.
The Cubs have not officially released anything yet, but as of right now, Espada is definitely in the running.
