At the beginning of March, local fast food restaurant, Burger King, announce they are now offering a BK Cafe coffee subscription for only five dollars. Yep, that’s right only five dollars a month for a cup of coffee. The only catch here is that you can only get it within the Burger King app.
Chris Finazzo, Burger King's president for North America, said in a statement, ”We are proud to launch our own subscription service where guests can now enjoy a hot cup of coffee every day for just five dollars a month.”
That’s right folks BK Cafe is open for business and a little healthy competition along the way. Basically, you download the BK app and fill out the subscription information and then *BOOM* you get a cup of coffee every day just by paying five dollars a month. Burger King is hoping to become a quick and simple coffee stop when you’re on the run especially when you're in the need of caffeine.
A little healthy (‘friendly’) competition never hurt anyone before and BK is certainly running up against other fast food chains such as McDonalds and Wendys. Regardless of your preferred fast food restaurant, this is something new being brought to the table and BK says they’re in for the long run.
Lilly Davison, an MJHS senior, stated, “Although I am not a fan of coffee I am a fan of the idea of it and if worked for other drinks too I think it could be beneficial to use.”
Many students and people in our community rely on their coffee first thing in the morning and the price can quickly add up. Starbucks is one of the most commonly used coffee shops just about everywhere but isn’t necessarily the cheapest either and the prices add up. With the BK subscriptions, it can be an alternative option to get the coffee you want for more than a fraction of the price compares to other leading coffee shops.
Majority of students voted on a poll and 56% percent said yes to the subscription and 44% said no. Whatever you think about it this is certainly an interesting approach Burger King to the fast food chains across the world.
See you at Coffee O’Clock!
