Almost everyone knows the saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” We hear it and then move on. But if you take a minute and actually think about what it means, it could change your perspective on how you look and think about people.
The definition of this phrase is “you shouldn’t prejudge the worth or the value of something or someone by it’s appearance from the outside.” This means that just because someone doesn’t look or act like you does not mean that they are any different from us. You look different from all your friends and everyone in this world, and you cannot judge someone just by looking at them from the outside.
If you judge something or someone by their first appearance, I can promise that you would miss out on an amazing person, even if you don't see that right then. You can get to know them and become friends. They may even end up being your best friend.
Most students have their favorite teachers that they adore and some that they aren't fond of. Most of the time students don't like a teacher because they give out too much homework or they are constantly getting onto you because of a childish or silly thing you did. From our side, we think the teacher is rude and self-centered, but from their side they are just doing their job the way they were told. Maybe that teacher you don't like is going through something difficult that we don’t know about.
Students go through life with difficulties that pull us down, and we stop talking to people or stay quiet for a while. If you think someone is strange because they don’t talk to people, maybe they are going through a tough time that you don’t know about. I’m sure that person wants to tell someone about what is happening in their life because they feel they don’t have anyone to talk to.
We all have a purpose in this world. We were intentional not accidental. You are not more important than any other person in this world, but we are all equally important. If you don’t feel that you are right now, just remember that your life matters.
